Behind the Zine with Matthew Thornton – Workshop 4

In the final workshop, Thornton will talk about what you can do with your finished zine, what events and resources are available to you to showcase your zine (zine fairs, small-press shows, etc.). Learn how to reproduce your zine, and how your zine can impact and contribute to your community.

Matthew Thornton is a Detroit-based comic book artist and Illustrator. He has worked in self-publishing and freelance illustration for six years, using a combination of traditional and digital media. He developed an early love of comics and cartoons from weekend visits with his aunt, an accomplished oil painter who introduced him to the work of J Scott Campbell, Todd MacFarlande, and Jim Lee, his earliest influences.

In 2009, he joined the U.S. Navy which enabled him to travel and gain life experiences that inspire his illustrations. He left the Navy in 2013 and enrolled in the College for Creative Studies. He is currently creating his own comic book, "Doris," and lives in Westland with his 13-year old son Isaiah.
