DIA's 9th Annual Community Group Show
Discover works of art created by participants in the DIA’s Community Group Program, a partnership between the museum and human service agencies in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Works will be on display in the Walter Gibbs Learning Center from November 15-December 31 during museum hours.
A reception for participating artists and their friends and family will take place on November 15 from 2-4 p.m.The DIA’s Community Group Program has been serving social service agencies in the Detroit area for over 20 years, providing meaningful experiences through art with gallery tours and hands-on art making. Current groups in the program include the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, the Luella Hannan Foundation, Piquette Square for Veterans, Macomb County Community Mental Health, Pontiac Sun Timebank, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren of Pontiac.
The Community Group Program is focused on providing a safe, nurturing environment for participants’ creative expression and socialization, while building positive relationships within the community. The annual community group show, in particular, provides a unique opportunity for group members to share their thoughts about their artistic work.
