Friday Night Live! The Akropolis Reed Quintet featuring Shara Nova

The Akropolis Reed Quintet was founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan and is the first ever ensemble of its makeup to win a Fischoff Gold Medal (2014), Grand Prize at the Plowman and MTNA national competitions, and 6 national chamber music prizes in total. Hailed by Fanfare for their “imagination, infallible musicality, and huge vitality," this performance features compositions in a wide range of styles, including a work by Nico Muhly featuring vocalist Shara Nova.

Akropolis will also perform short works composed by three Detroit high school students as part of Together We Sound, a residency between Akropolis and the schools, as well as a piece entitled Point Blank, composed by Logan Rutledge in memory of Trayvon Martin.
