Friday Night Live! Soundrotation Rearview Mirror Sessions with Duane Powell

Black History Month programs are made possible by the generous support of Arn and Nancy Tellem.

Chicago-based DJ Duane Powell bridges the gap between musical legends of the past with contemporary hip-hop heroes. Using multi-media elements with sound samples and live performance, Powell will trace the extraordinary career of Detroit singer, songwriter and producer Leon Ware from his humble beginnings in the 60s to his Motown days and the classic soul period of the 70s and explore his influence in the burgeoning hip hop and new soul movements of the 90s.

The evening will end with a DJ set and dance party featuring Duane Powell. This will be a silent event using wireless headphones available in the DIA’s Great Hall.
