Lunar New Year Celebrations

Members of the DIA's auxiliary Friends of Asian Arts and Cultures invite you to explore the traditions associated with the Lunar New Year as celebrated in Taiwan and Korea. On Saturday, enjoy performances of Korean dances, Taiwanese folk music, Lion dance and Korean drumming. On both days, see displays of paintings, calligraphy and puppets in the Great Hall and participate in make & take workshops featuring Taiwanese and Korean arts and crafts.

February 24, 2018 

Performances in the DFT at Noon and 2 p.m. Korean Flower Crown and Fan Dances , Samulnori (Korean Drumming), Taiwanese Folk Music and the Lion Dance

Displays in the Great Hall from Noon-4 p.m. Korean and Chinese calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Korean Minhwa and Friends of Four Scholars Paintings, Taiwanese Puppets and other cultural artifacts

Demonstrations in the Great Hall  Paper Cutting at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 p.m. & Korean Minhwa Painting 1 and 3 p.m.

Make & Take Workshops in the Student Lunchroom from Noon-4 p.m. Korean Painting, Korean and Chinese Calligraphy,  Paper Cutting and Woodblock Printin
