Making Home with the DIA Teen Council

“Making a home.” What does that mean to you? Does it sound comforting? Does it fuel a flame? Does it make you jump for joy? The DIA Teen Council would love to share and explore Making Home: Contemporary Works from the DIA with you. The Teen Council has put together a program designed intentionally to bring teens together. During this activity, youth participants will visit the Making Home exhibition in groups led by Teen Council members, share perceptions and interpretations of the art, and engage in hands-on art-making.

An open mind and communication is encouraged. DIA Teen Council members strive for a respectful, warm, and open environment. Every thought, every perspective, and certainly every person will be respected. Take the chance to meet new people, don’t be scared to be yourself, and potentially have a place like the DIA feel like home.

This program is free to youth participants from Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties. Registration is required. Youth participants will be required to submit a picture ID upon check-in which will be returned at check-out.

Sponsorship for this event is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
