Music Performance: Masayo Ishigure

A New York-based musician who has been playing Koto (Japanese horizontal harp) and Shamisen (three strings Japanese guitar) professionally for more than 25 years across the U.S. and internationally, Ms. Isihigure has created an extensive multi-faceted career that continues to stretch the limits of the koto while maintaining a strong grasp of the tradition. This is Ms. Ishigure’s second appearance at the DIA after her superb performance at the opening event of the Robert & Katherine Jacobs Asian Wing in November, 2018.

Ms. Ishigure performs as part of the DIA’s Concert Series Friday Night Live! On Friday, March 1st at 7 & 8:30 p.m. as well as a matinee performance during the Japanese Girls’ Day festivities on Saturday, March 2nd at 3:45 p.m.

These events are part of Arts of Asia: A Year-Long Celebration of the DIA’s newly opened Robert & Katherine Jacobs Asian Wing.
