Ruben Brandt, Collector

(Hungary/2018—directed by Milorad Krstić)

This marvelously energetic animated feature from multi-disciplined artist Milorad Krstić is the playfully surreal tale of “world famous psychotherapist Ruben Brandt” (think Rubens and Rembrandt) who specializes in treating “the artistic temperament,” despite being tormented by nightmares in which he’s attacked by characters from famous paintings.

When kleptomaniac art thief Mimi seeks Ruben’s help, his avant-garde therapy techniques send the pair into a whirlwind of breathlessly witty chases and adventures, brought to sparkling life via clever character design and an ingenious musical score. Official submission for Best Animated Feature, 2018 Academy Awards®. Suitable for ages 14 and up. (94 min.)

“Eye-popping, agile and audacious. Immensely enjoyable animation!” -Wendy Ide, Screen International
