TATM Studio Visit: Hakka Culture and the Art of Taiwanese Hand Puppetry

Join the DIA's curator of Puppetry in conversation with puppet master Wu-Shan Huang, founder, and director of Shan Puppet Theatre - a company that combines traditional Taiwanese hand puppetry with indigenous Hakka culture, song, and language whose performances feature live musical accompaniment, masterful vocal characterizations, and hands-on demonstrations.

Director Huang will give a history of his experience and training, touching on the puppet building process, performance techniques, the impact of puppetry on people, and the importance his Hakka culture plays within his productions.
