Inscribed, in plate, lower left: Painted by S. Jones - the Figures by I.L. Krimmell. Inscribed, lower center: PUBLISHED BY WILLIAM SMITH, 702 SOUTH 3RD ST. PHILA. Inscribed, ower right: Engraved by J. Hill. Inscribed, lower center: The Conflagration of the MASONIC HALL Chestnut Street Philadelphia. | which occurred on the Night of the 9th of March 1819. | This Plate is respectfully dedicated to the active and much esteemed Fire Engine and Hose Companies, by their Obedt,, Servts,, S. Kennedy and S.S. West. | Published June 1819, by S. Kennedy, and S.S. West, No. 72 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Inscribed, in pencil on a two inch strip cut from the bottom of the sheet and loosely housed in the same mat: Mr. IM Parter is a duly appointed [illegible] Agent for the Publisher | Wm Smith, April 13th 1864.
