Engraved, on both sides: [coat of arms used by Gustav Wilhelm Lurman] barry wavy of four, argent and gules; on a chief azure, a crown or; crest: five ostrich feathers argent; motto: Virtus Ornat

Stamped under the rim of the disk: S.K. (in a rectangular punch mark) S. KIRK( in a rectangular punch mark) 11 OZ. (in a rectangular punch mark with serrated edges) the Baltimore assay marks, the oval "Maryland Shield" without the bend dexter and the letter F
